English Translation:
If you are weak, sit quietly in the corner; if your teeth are unsound, smile gently (or chew softly). (Know your limitations; when infirm or ill-equipped, conduct yourself with modest restraint and quiet prudence.)

English Translation:
A cat struck by a firebrand is terrified even of a firefly. (Once bitten, twice shy; severe trauma instills an irrational fear of harmless things that merely resemble danger.)

English Translation:
The wooden haft of the axe is the deadliest enemy of its own forest. (Traitors from within one’s own kin or community inflict the most devastating ruin; the forest tree supplies the handle that fells the grove.)
