English Translation:
Why beat a booming maddalam drum behind a thin screen? (Why make clumsy, futile attempts to hide an action that is inherently loud, obvious, and bound to be noticed by all?)

English Translation:
Better to clasp the feet of your enemy than to fall at the feet of an unreliable witness. (Direct reconciliation with an open adversary is far safer and more dignified than placing your fate in the hands of a treacherous, bribable intermediary.)

English Translation:
Hooked the prime prawn as bait, only to have the pond run dry. (Expending your best resources and investments in pursuit of a prize, only to lose both the bait and the opportunity.)
